the fall

Hello friends and family!
Greetings from San Diego. I hope you are all doing well wherever God has you and I pray that His blessings are evident in your life.
I will let you know that this is my second attempt at writing an update as to my time at IHC and the plans for the fall. With the first letter describing a direction set before the start of the summer and now the second revealing it’s recalculations. But first I would love to tell you about my now 7th summer with Indian Hills Camp. My job, as it has been, was to capture and tell the story of summer camp 2009. The time went by like a flash, faster than previous years but nonetheless eventful and filled with great memories. The staff this year were exceptionally awesome as IHC set out into uncharted waters with lower prices, guest counselors and fewer staff on hand. We ran several new camps including a prison ministry week and an inner city week as well as conducted day camps in Los Angeles, Orange County, and various locations in San Diego. The summer was overflowing with activity and I would like to thank you for your prayers and support.

With the end of summer came the beginning of fall but the pieces haven’t fallen the way I had planned. My original plans were to continue with classes at the seminary and volunteer part time with IHC with the possibility of returning to live at camp. But God has other plans. Currently I have continued my job at Aloe Life and may be looking at finding a second job to supplement the loss of income acquired during the summer months. This situation has led me to cancel this fall’s classes in order to allow the other puzzle pieces to fit together. As for the future of school I hope to continue in the spring given God’s provision and direction for that part of my life. I recently recalculated the impact of the seminary's tuition with their increase of unit cost and while adding in all discounts, at best, I would graduate with a debt of $18,000 and the best is highly unlikely. While a degree opens up doors…debt can just as easily shut them. Please keep me in your prayers as I pursue faith and courage for the route that God has purposed me to go.

Presently I am volunteering with the Jr. High youth group at my church and will be leading the same group of guys I had last year as they are now in 8th. Along with Jr. High I have also joined the newly formed Creative Team and will be helping out with various media design and performance projects. I will also be continuing to help IHC with several media and marketing projects as they begin to prepare for their 50th Anniversary in 2010. Even though plans have changed I continue to thank God for all that He has blessed me with and always thank Him for you and your support in my life. Thank you for your much appreciated prayers.

This year has been hard for many of us as we face the challenges of a broken economy but God’s economy remains strongest of all and His love overflows on His children. He will bless those who seek Him with their whole heart so let us seek Him in everything that we do.
